Disinfection and sterilization are quite often confused.
Disinfection is the elimination of 99,999% of Viruses, Bacteria and Fungi.
Sterilization is the total elimination of any organism of any size down to the most simple types of life. This can be made only in an autoclave at 123°.

A low bacterial count under control is the only way to maintain a safe environment.
Sterilization is necessary only in certain peculiar areas, like operating rooms, and not in our environment where a number of microorganism, viruses and fungi are always present in cohabitation with all the other and more evoluted kind of life, like ourselves.
